...and now for something different....

...I've been taking part in an altered matchbox swap over in the Addicted to Inchies Group.

I had so much fun with this swap. This is my first altered matchbox. I now want to make more!!

My partner was my friend Les in Canada, and I know she is a little partial to an 'Asian' theme, so I decided to go all Oriental with my altering!! I altered a little jigsaw piece and added it to the box. The little handle on the drawer is made from a brad pushed through a bead.

This is the underside of the Matchbox

We had to fill the matchbox with 4 Inchies and a few little 'crafty' extras. It's amazing how many bits and pieces you can cram into a teeny matchbox!!

Bubble Background Technique....

The lovely Jen is organizing a background swap in the ATCforbeginners group.

I've gone for the Messy but Fun Bubble Background!

Used to do this printing with the kids when they were younger!

Here is a quick and easy little tute for anyone that wants to have a go:

Materials:

Bowl

Straw

Washing up liquid (Dish washing soap)

Food colouring (I've used blue)

Paper.

A little Warning!!

This can be a little messy!

So protect clothes, and surrounding areas!!

I even wear rubber gloves!!

Method:

1. Place a small amount of water, food colouring(You may need to experiment with the amount of food colouring to give you the colour/effect you require) and washing up liquid in a bowl.

2. Use the straw to blow bubbles into the solution.

3. You are aiming to get the bubbles to rise above the rim of the bowl.

4. Once the bubbles rise above the rim, remove the straw and place your piece of paper on top of the bubbles to make a print.

5. The bubbles will pop leaving the dye to make lovely bubble prints on your paper.

I love the way each piece comes out so differently.

You can use different colours, or even mix colours to give a great effect.

Here are some ATC's I have made, using the bubble technique background.
