The Summer of Colour #8 Orange

It's now...
 week over at
Kristin's 'Summer of Colour Challenge'
Another BIG colour challenge for me
..usually only used during fall and halloween !
Busy, Busy, Busy here!!
My Boys are on Summer holiday from school, college and Uni,
.....so the house is a busy chaotic mess
(Just how I Love it  !!)
..but I just HAD to find the time to join in with the eighth week of Kristin's wonderful colour prompts....
So,  Just a quickie I'm afraid... a quick water pencil drawing,  some rubber stamping and splattered on a little white gesso, to distress up !

..and the Bonus for this weeks challenge  is to in some way incorporate your favourite quote or poem.
Well, I'm a big quote fan...but I don't have a favourite, but I thought this little quote by Mr Van Gogh was fitting for this weeks colour...
'There is no Blue without Yellow and without Orange.'
-oOo-
So now, I'm going to try my upmost to get around to all your lovely Orange Inspiration and will also try my best to leave a comment!

Can't wait to see what Kristin has in store for us for the rest of the challenge :)

Got to dash !!

Thanks for Looking  !

The Summer of Colour #7 Purple

It's now ....
PURPLE
week over at
Kristin's 'Summer of Colour Challenge'

-oOo-
Now, I'm not usually a purple lover...
and really had no idea what to do with purple week,
until a comment left by The Wright Stuff
(Sorry don't know your real name?)
on my last weeks red challenge
inspired my piece for this weeks challenge.
I was reminded of the Jenny Joseph poem...
Warning...When I grow old I shall wear purple.

 So some more journal pages....

Warning - When I Am an Old Woman I Shall Wear Purple
By Jenny Joseph
When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple
with a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
and satin candles, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired
and gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
and run my stick along the public railings
and make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
and pick the flowers in other people's gardens
and learn to spit.
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
and eat three pounds of sausages at a go
or only bread and pickles for a week
and hoard pens and pencils and beer nuts and things in boxes.
But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
and pay our rent and not swear in the street
and set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

..and Wahoo, I've just found out that I've won last weeks (red) challenge via Karen, Jo and Netty's lovely comments - thank you ladies :)
and Thank you sooo much again Kristin for this amazing challenge, and your generosity .
Now next week is  ORANGE week
another huge challenge for me!

Thanks for Looking !

The Summer of Colour # 6 Red

 it's now ....
RED
week over at
I'm having so much fun filling up my journal with this challenge...

-oOo-
When I thought of red...
Little Red riding Hood sprung to mind
So for my background I've copied some old book pages,
I drew my red girl
coloured her with pencils and pens..
(she needed some rosy red cheeks !!)
The flowers were cut from a cath kidston catalogue, and stuck over my pages.
...then I distressed with some acrylic paint and inks.
-oOo-
This weeks Bonus challenge is to incorporate something winged into your work.
...So I've stamped a little birdy (studio g stamp)
then added a little 'red' quote...
'When in doubt wear red'
(Bill Blass)
looking forward to next weeks
colour  .....PURPLE

The Summer of Colour # 5 BROWN

Can you believe it ?
We are half way through this wonderful challenge !
and it's now ....
BROWN
week over at

Now, after last weeks big struggle with Yellow...
...this is a good week for me,
'cos I love creating with shades of  'Brown'
-oOo-
some Brown pages for my journal...

I've used, vintage music papers, paints, inks, Water-soluble wax pastels and pencils.
The  Bonus Challenge is to incorporate a bold shot of colour into your work,

Now, I'm not sure if this is going to be bold enough to count?
believe it or not...
my girls lips are brighter pink in real life,
but the lighting here is sooo dark and dull at the mo !!
I just couldn't capture the true colouring.
You wouldn't believe we were in the middle of Summer here !
-oOo-
...and it was also my lovely S-I-L's birthday last week,
so this challenge inspired me to make her birthday card with 'browns'

-oOo-
I am really enjoying this colour journey, so much beautiful colour inspiration out there in Blogland!
THANK YOU again Kristin for the challenge
....and to all my lovely commenters
your kind words are so encouraging :)
-oOo-
...and next weeks colour is RED

The Summer of Colour # 4 YELLOW

I'm having so much fun with
 Kristin's 'Summer of Colour'
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments on all of my colour pieces.
Your kind words have really brightened my days..
-oOo-
It is  inspiring me to create with colours I wouldn't usually use ...
This week is
 YELLOW,
and as much as I love yellow, such a happy colour, but it one of the colours I wouldn't usually gravitate towards when I create something !!

..and what a coincidence ,  I also recieved this lovely bundle of ribbons and buttons from the lovely Ali from Crafty Ribbons
 to create two projects for...
...and has it happens there were lots of yellow goodies in my bundle

So I decided to combine the challenges..and created a 'Yellow' card...
I love this wired ribbon...I pleated it and made a bow with it.

I used lovely retro style papers from 'Cosmo Cricket' ODDS & ENDS collage kit
ribbons/buttons (Crafty Ribbons)
old book page
brown envelope
doily
bingo card and tickets
mini scrabble letters
stitching
distressed with inks and paints.
-oOo-
It's not to late to join in and play along with Kristin's wonderful Summer of Colour Challenge.
...and next week is BROWN. I use brown a lot, so hopefully this should be a easier week for me ! :)
-oOo-
Phew, nearly forgot !!!
....this weeks Bonus Challenge is to incorporate metallics into your work
so I've just added some metal embellies to my card...
(press studs and a pin)
Thanks for Looking !

The Summer of Color #3 PINK

Well, week three of Kristin's wonderful colour challenge is here again
....and this weeks challenge is  PINK
(one of my favourite colours!!)
Whilst browsing the internet, looking for a 'pink' quote to inspire me...
I came across this piece of info...
-oOo-
-For women who are often overworked and overburdened, an attraction to pink may speak of a desire for the more carefree days of childhood.-
-oOo-
Mmmm...Could this be why I like pink sooo much ?!!! LOL
Anyway i found this fun and inspiring little quote...

-oOo-
"I believe in pink.

I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner.

I believe in kissing, kissing a lot.

I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong.

I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls.

I believe that tomorrow is another day

…… and I believe in miracles."

-Audrey Hepburn-

and this is what it inspired me to create...
(You can click on pics for a better view)
-oOo-
some more pages for my journal...
-oOo-
-oOo-
I've painted, stencilled, stamped and inked...
I've even manage to complete this weeks bonus challenge ...
to' incorporate wax into your piece'
I have used assorted `Water-soluble wax pastels' to colour my pages
-oOo-

..and you can never have too much pink....can you ?
...Well personally, I don't think so ! LOL
So, I've also made a little 'pink' Thank you card....

...created with, papers, old envie, Image (Landof Enchantment), tickets, lace, paper flowers, stitching, fabric yo-yo, paints inks and mini scrabble letters.
-oOo-
Whooo, I've enjoyed this weeks PINK challenge...and next week is YELLOW...way out of my colour comfort zone again...so this could be a challenging week!
-oOo-
Off to have a nosey at what other pinkness has been created in blog-world :)
-oOo-
Thanks again Kristin for getting my mojo back from its Hols, with her fun colour challenge..

The Summer of Color #1 BLUE

Now, it's time to reveal my
'blue'
piece for
Kristin's
Challenge
...I had a little play last week
..and had a lot of fun creating a little mixed media journal page for our first colour challenge.
and here is the result...
First of all I raided my stash for blue pens, pencils, paint etc...Then decided to start a little mixed media journal.
The face was inspired by Tam's ' Art, heart and Healing Course' that I did last year.
(Deets in my sidebar)
I used a paper collage for the background,
acyrlic paints, pens, pencils, inks
and various rubber stamps to create my journal pages.
..and found this apt little colour quote to add to it.
-oOo-
I am going to try my best to join in each week creating with colour !
Looking forward to seeing all the other arty blueness
...and next weeks colour !

Thanks for Looking!

Feelin' Blue?

(sneak peek of my 'blue' contribution !)
-oOo-
OMG... Been a while again eh  !!
I'm still here..
Been trying to get around all your lovely blogs...
Sorry if I haven't commented in a while
Just been ultra busy
....and what with blogger comments playing up

Gonna have another catch-up after this blog post!

Anyway.....
Mrs Mojo is still misbehaving  !!.. :(
...but what better to kick it into touch...

A new Challenge...
(Colour for us here in the UK :) )
... a 10-week blog party celebrating art in all it hues!

The wonderful Kristin from Twinkle Twinkle
will be giving us a colour prompt each week
....and we will be creating art in any form and in any medium.
Now, I thought this would be good for me....
....as I tend to stick to the same ol' colour schemes
So, This Challenge should put me right out of my Colour Comfort zones !
-oOo-
Now, first of all, we have to share what we will be creating each week..
Well in my case it could be absolutely anything !!
I think I'm going to shake it up, and just see where the muse grabs me each week !

...could be a scrapbook page, atc, canvas, journal page and I think there will most def. be a altered matchbox thrown in along the way at some point !!
Oh, and I was thinking of searching for some 'colour' quotes to add to my creations too.

and the colour we are starting with is....

BLUE
I had a little play today,
I thought I'd make a start with a journal page.

(Another little sneaky peek of my mixed media journal piece)

We will then all post our 'blue' pieces next week
(Monday 13th)
..Can't wait to see what everyone has come up with :)
Thank you to Kristin for organising this fab challenge...
Now what are you waiting for ....Hop over HERE to join in too :)
