The Summer of Colour #7 Purple

It's now ....
PURPLE
week over at
Kristin's 'Summer of Colour Challenge'

-oOo-
Now, I'm not usually a purple lover...
and really had no idea what to do with purple week,
until a comment left by The Wright Stuff
(Sorry don't know your real name?)
on my last weeks red challenge
inspired my piece for this weeks challenge.
I was reminded of the Jenny Joseph poem...
Warning...When I grow old I shall wear purple.

 So some more journal pages....

Warning - When I Am an Old Woman I Shall Wear Purple
By Jenny Joseph
When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple
with a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
and satin candles, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired
and gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
and run my stick along the public railings
and make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
and pick the flowers in other people's gardens
and learn to spit.
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
and eat three pounds of sausages at a go
or only bread and pickles for a week
and hoard pens and pencils and beer nuts and things in boxes.
But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
and pay our rent and not swear in the street
and set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

..and Wahoo, I've just found out that I've won last weeks (red) challenge via Karen, Jo and Netty's lovely comments - thank you ladies :)
and Thank you sooo much again Kristin for this amazing challenge, and your generosity .
Now next week is  ORANGE week
another huge challenge for me!

Thanks for Looking !
Jan x

Aha! Well you did say you'd do this!! Great job too. (my name is Lisa by the way!)

She's very pretty - I'm sure she'll age perfectly and look very fine in purple as she scrapes sticks down railings!!

Your purple girl is brilliant - her eyes and lips are so dreamy. The background is very cool too.

A wonderful journal spread! I just love your purple girlie! Congrats on your win too. I was already sweating orange week as well so I decided to hit the studio and just do it. My purple girlie was very last minute so for a change I'm done early. I'll be watching for your orange entry!
